United Nation Organisation - UNO

The United Nations Organisation is an association of around 185 nations, which have pledged themselves for the maintenance of international peace and security. The States agree to cooperate in promoting such political, economic and social conditions as may facilitate the achievement of these objects.

Origin:

It had its origin in the deliberations at Dumbarton Oaks (USA) amongst the representatives of the USA, the United Kingdom, the erstwhile USSR and Kuomintang China in October 1944. The Charter of the United Nations was signed at San Francisco on June 26, 1945, at a meeting of the representatives of 50 States, representing two-thirds of the world's population. The name of the United Nations was given at the instance of President Roosevelt. The Organisation actually came into being on 24th October, 1945-
